Jeśli ktoś mówi, że nie lubi Neila Younga, to podejrzewam, że albo nie pasuje mu specyficzna barwa głosu (którą ja akurat lubię bardzo) albo jednak za mało go słyszał. Bo stylistycznie to Neil bardzo różne rzeczy robił i coś dla prawie każdego się znajdzie. Ja poleciłbym na początek dwa skrajnie różne koncerty: "Unplugged" i "Weld". Pierwszy akustyczny, akcentujący wokal i melodie piosenek, drugi - pełen gitarowego piłowania w wykonaniu Crazy Horse'a. Ten drugi to moim zdaniem jeden z ciekawszych rockowych koncertów w ogóle. Teksty - tak, pewnie, że popełnił wiele świetnych, ale te melodie! "Like a hurricane" na przykład to dla mnie jeden z piosenkowych killerów Younga. Wiele lat temu, jak pracowałem krótko w Holandii, to kupiłem sobie "Unplugged" i pewnego dnia rano w pracy zacząłem sobie przy komputerze podśpiewywać właśnie "Like a hurricane". Po godzinie cały pokój nucił ze mną, choć wcześniej na uszy tego nie słyszeli. A swoją drogą trzeba klasy Younga żeby pozornie banalnemu porównaniu: "You are like a hurricane" nadać głębszą treść następnym zdaniem: "There's calm in your eye". Za takie rzeczy Neila uwielbiam, choć rzeczywiście nagrał też trochę rzeczy dla mnie mało strawnych - nudnawych, smętnych itd. Za to jak już trafi melodię, to chwyta mnie za serce, że ojej.
Właśnie zobaczyłem, że Frrebird ubiegł mnie o 2 minuty z publikacją tekstu tego numeru. Niesamowite...
