Krótka notka biograficzna
Branford Marsalis (ur. 26 sierpnia 1960), amerykański saksofonista jazzowy.
Muzyczną karierę rozpoczął na początku lat osiemdziesiątych, grając z big bandem Arta Blakeya, Clarkiem Terrym i Blakey's Jazz Messengers. Od 1982 do 1985 grał w zespole swojego brata Wyntona, potem jako członek zespołu akompaniującego Stingowi. Uczestniczył również w trasach koncertowych Milesa Davisa. W 1986 założył własną grupę. Po roku 1995 eksperymentował z projektem Buckshot LeFonque, gdzie chciał połączyć jazz z R&B, hip-hopem i rockiem.
Wsławił się również jako współtwórca muzyki do filmów Spike'a Lee tj. "Mo Better Blues" czy "Do the Right Thing" - kompozycje do tych filmów powstawały wspólnie z Terence'em Blanchardem i Billem Lee - ojcem reżysera.
Branford jest najstarszym z czterech braci Marsalisów, z których każdy jest muzykiem jazzowym, tak samo jak ojciec Ellis Marsalis. Jest najbardziej znany jako saksofonista tenorowy i muzyczny innowator, choć zdaje się, że nie cieszy się taką popularnością jak pozostali członkowie rodziny.
