Charlie Musselwhite, po za albumem w duecie z Ben'em Harper'em, w bieżącym roku wydał płytę firmowaną swoim imieniem i nazwiskiem. Płyta chyba jeszcze niedostępna w sprzedaży (brak na amazon.uk), ale można odsłuchać całości w serwisie Spotify. Ja jestem po kilkukrotnym przesłuchaniu i już wiem, że to dla mnie pierwsza trójka tegorocznych wydawnictw bluesowych (chyba nawet nr 1) i czekam z niecierpliwością na ukazanie się w sprzedaży tego wydawnictwa.
Nie jestem miłośnikiem Musselwhite'a z jego etapu bluesa chicagowskiego, natomiast lubię jego płyty z ostatnich lat, na których często dość odważnie odchodził od bluesa, flirtując i czerpiąc z okolic bluesa. Na najnowszym wydawnictwie wraca na południe, a więc do swoich źródeł i rodzinnych stron. Jest sporo korzennego grania i takiego Musselwhite'a kupuje w 100%!. Materiał został zarejestrowany w Juke Joincie w Clarksdale, z żywo reagującą publicznością. Blues zagrany, zarejestrowany i zrealizowany w najlepszym dla siebie miejscu i formie. Bardzo dobra i stylowa gitara Matthew Stubbs'a dla mnie to bardzo mocny punkt tej płyty. Oczywiście nie brakuje harmonijki, ale bez jakieś przesady. Podział i długość partii solowych dokonany z dużym smakiem. Jest kilka "cudzesów" a także odwołań do mistrzów bluesa, jak np. Johna Lee Hooker'a w "River Hip Mama”, ale odnajdziemy także klimat latino i granie lekko jazzujące.
