Znany aktor i miłośnik muzyki Morgan Freeman opowiada o historii i rozwoju amerykańskiego bluesa, jazzu i soulu.
W latach 60. XX wieku rozwijała się odmiana bluesa brytyjskiego, a muzyka, którą biali artyści m.in.
Jazz to mieszanka muzyki afrykańskiej, europejskiej i elementów bluesa. Muzyczna podróż wiedzie nas dalej poprzez lata 40. i 50. - czas rozwoju bebopu i free jazzu.
XX wieku. Powstał z połączenia dwóch afroamerykańskich form muzycznych: pieśni gospel Południowego Kościoła Baptystów i rhythm and bluesa. Wśród najbardziej znanych wykonawców gatunku zobaczymy Salomona Burkego, Neville Brothers, The Supremes i Gladys Knight. Wystąpią też takie gwiazdy, jak Otis Redding, Aretha Franklin i James Brown.
