Nazwa Gov't Mule od wielu lat kojarzy mi się z wspaniałą muzyką i przyciąga jak magnes. Ostatnio przyciągnęła mnie do półki w sklepie płytowym i zmusiła do kupienia płyty "Mighty High". Jest to prawie 67 minut - 13 kawałków, miksów, jamów, eksperymentów brzmieniowych, zabaw z dźwiękiem, coverów itd, nagranych w jednostajnym rytmie reggae. Słuchając tej płyty przypomniałem sobie to, co Witold Gombrowicz napisał kiedyś w "Dzienniku", że podczas komponowania utworu należy "wejść w sferę snu" i powtarzać pewne wyrażenia i zwroty, między innymi dlatego, że "poprzez powtarzanie tworzy się mitologie". Miał na myśli tworzenie literatury, ale Warren Haynes wyraźnie wziął sobie tą radę do serca. Jego nowa płyta cała kręci się głównie wokół utworów "Unring the Bell" i "So Week, So Strong" z płyty "High & Mighty". Pośród transowego, reaggowego dubowania co jakiś czas pojawiają się porozumiewawcze wstawki zaczerpnięte z oryginalnych wersji utworów: tu linia basu, tam solóweczka lub wokal Warrena, gdzie indziej klawisz. Co jakiś czas można też posłuchać murzyńskiego "opowiadacza", który coś tam tłumaczy, w charakterystyczny sposób. W takiej konwencji utrzymane są również przeróbki "I am a Ram", "Play with Fire" i "Hard to Handle". Tytuł płyty sugeruje, że ma ona wiele wspólnego z poprzednim wydawnictwem Mułów. Moim zdaniem lepiej byłoby wydać je łącznie (tą nową jako bonus "High & Mighty"). Nie żałuję wydanych pieniędzy, bo mi ich dzięki Bogu nie brakuje, ale mam nadzieję, że Warren nie nagra kolejnych wersji swoich utworów np. w konwencji hip - hop. Pozdrawiam.
