Mark Knopfler - "Privateering"

Wątek zapowiadający płytę na tym forum, patrząc na liczbę odsłon cieszył się sporym zainteresowaniem co bardzo mnie cieszy. Liczę że w tym wątku kilku forowiczów opisze swoje wrażenia po wysłuchaniu tej płyty.
Ja na razie napiszę moje spostrzeżeń po kilku przesłuchaniach, dość chaotyczne ale potrzeba jeszcze czasu na osłuchanie się z materiałem.
Na pewno nie jest to płyta (2xCD!!) który poleciłbym komuś kto z muzyką Knopflera chce się zapoznać, lub znają tego artystę tylko z takich przebojów jak „Sultans of swing”, „Brothers in Arms” lub nawet ostatniej „Get Lucky”. To będzie raczej album bardzo ważny i wysoko oceniany głównie przez słuchaczy znających dość dobrze całą twórczość Mark Knopfler’a.
Warto zwrócić uwagę że mimo od lat Knopfler firmuje swoim nazwiskiem wydawnictwa, słuchając płyty jest wrażenie że to nie płyta „solowa” lecz płyta solidnego band’u w którym każdy jest ważny. Na tej płycie Mark jest bardzo „wycofany do tyłu” ze swoją gitarą. Skład który utrzymuje praktycznie bez wielkich zmian od lat na swoich płytach i koncertach to moim zdaniem obecnie najlepszy zespół artystów firmujących swoją działalność tylko swoim nazwiskiem.
Nie może również umknąć fakt że jest to pierwsza płyta na której u Knopflera mamy aż tak wiele blues’a. Na płycie gościnnie na harmonijce zagrał bardzo ceniony harmonijkarz Kim Wilson. Moją uwagę zwróciło szczególnie to że harmonijka jest bardzo ze smakiem w miksowana w całość, nie jest to instrument który jak na wielu płytach bluesowych, moim zdaniem zbyt mocno jest eksponowany, w tych nagraniach harmonijka to instrument akompaniujący tak jak w większości nagraniach bywa gitara lub pianino oczywiście z momentami na solo. Po pierwszych przesłuchaniach bardzo pozytywnie odbieram stylistykę bluesową jaką Knopfler osadził swoje nagrania. Podczas mody na ostre gitarowe granie blues’a i blues-rocka, na płycie Knopfler’a mamy powrót i ukłon do zespołów bluesowych grających w latach 50-60 XX wieku (Chicago, Nowy Orealn), oszczędnie ale ze smakiem przenikającymi się partiami gitar, harmonijki, pianina. Jeśli ktoś potrzebuje odpoczynku w bluesie od zgiełku przesterowanych gitar na pewno się nie zawiedzie częścią utworów mocno osadzonych w bluesie.
Oprócz tego mamy utwory z których Mark słynie od lat, opowieści o ludziach, miejscach, podróżowaniu, w stylistyce czerpiącej mocno z folk’u.
Płyta nie nadaje się może do końca do szybkiej jazdy samochodem, ale jest to świetna pozycja nawiązująca mocno do morskich podróży i tak zamierzam za nie długo się zapoznać z tym materiałem wnikliwiej podczas rejsu. A więc pewnie za jakiś czas coś napiszę jeszcze w tym wątku
