Grupa Laboratorium powstała w roku 1970 i istniała do 1990 roku. Od początku trzon zespołu stanowili trzej muzycy: Janusz Grzywacz, Marek Stryszowski i Mieczysław Górka. W połowie lat 70-tych krakowskie Laboratorium należało do grona najpopularniejszych polskich zespołów jazzowych, wykonujących jazz elektryczny zwany fussion. Zespół zdobywał nagrody w najpoważniejszych polskich konkursach jazzowych. Już po zakończeniu działalności pojawił się kilkakrotnie na scenach, m.in. świętując swoje 25-lecie. Zagrali ponad tysiąc koncertów, byli zapraszani na największe festiwale. Łącznie nagrali 9 płyt. W 2010 roku legenda polskiego jazz-rocka lat 70 – tych powróciła na scenę po sukcesie wydanego w 2006 roku dziesięciopłytowego box-u pt. „Laboratorium Anthology 1971-1988 Nagrania wszystkie (no… prawie wszystkie)”. Obecny skład grupy to: Janusz Grzywacz, Marek Stryszowski, Krzysztof Ścierański, Marek Raduli i Grzegorz Grzyb.
